Marc, inevitably, shouted “Judas!”, in reference to the infamous response to Bob Dylan‘s switch from acoustic to electric guitars.

The Travelling Band are about to embark on a huge UK tour.

Liverpool band Space are back, armed with a new single, album and UK tour.

Space reformed in December 2011 for a special one-off hometown show at the O2 Academy.

The show quickly sold out and the response was so positive that the cheeky Scouse outfit, famous for their quirky brand of indie-pop, decided to give it another go.

The platinum selling band came to prominence in the mid-90’s with hit singles such as Female of the Species, Neighbourhood, Me and You Verses the World and The Ballad of Tom Jones.

They worked with Tom Jones in 1999 and Cerys Matthews a year earlier. The band formed in 1993 and released four studio albums, plus a number of charting singles, before disbanding in 2005.

“The band has definitely evolved,” explains frontman Tommy Scott“but now the band has got three new younger members and I have sucked all their passion and youth out of them – and the result is a great album.”

The new line-up features original band members Tommy Scott and Franny Griffiths, and are joined by Phil Hartley, Ryan Clarke and Allan Jones.

The band’s new album Attack Of The 50ft Mutant Kebab will be released in November 2013. “You can expect a battle ground of genres, from Ska to post punk to easy listening – all fighting together in the arena of death,” promises Tommy.

Their new single Fortune Teller will be available as a download in late May. “The song is about a young couple’s Durex ripping and the consequences of a baby from nowhere,” explains Tommy.

So what would the current Tommy tell the Tommy of the nineties? “Why did you wear those clothes?” he laughs.

And with a new album and new tour on the way, what does the future hold for Space?

“The future is more albums and I’m hungrier than a horde of X Factor zombies,” says Tommy – without a tarot card or crystal ball in sight.
